Teddie Dwight Christy
Private First Class, U. S. Army
Silver Star
Headquarters, 80th Infantry Division, General Orders No. 132 ( May 21, 1945)
The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Ted D. Christy (ASN: 18110203), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company F, 2d Battalion, 318th Infantry Regiment, 80th Infantry Division, in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States on 12 April 1945 in Germany. On that date, during an assault on Erfurt, Germany, all of the enemy were killed or captured in their forward positions with the exception of one officer whom Private First Class Christy observed running to the rear. Disregarding enemy fire, Private First Class Christy pursued this officer into a building three hundred yards forward of his own lines. After wounding the officer in a fire fight, he captured and returned him to the company positions where on interrogation he revealed information that enabled the comp-any to flank and capture seventy-five Germans without suffering a casualty. The courageous aggressiveness, initiative, and loyal devotion to duty displayed by Private First Class Christy were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit and the United States Army.
