(UNCONFIRMED - Citation Needed): Charles M. Willis, United States Army, is reported to have been posthumously awarded the Silver Star under the below-listed General Orders for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving with the 142nd Infantry Regiment, 36th Infantry Division in Italy during World War II.
He died of wounds received while saving a comrade during an artillery barrage.
