Private Edwards asn-38711451 awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart (posthumously) for his gallantry in action on Okinawa with the Company E 32nd Infantry 7th Division on 22 April 1945. He was killed in action against the enemy Japanese forces. Reported in the newspaper The Abilene (Tx) Reporter News Tue 16 Oct 1945 and Wed 17 Oct 1945.
