Carol M. Mouser

Corporal, U. S. Army

Silver Star

GENERAL ORDERS:
Headquarters, 25th Infantry Division, General Orders No. 185 (1945)
CITATION:
The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Corporal Carol M. Mouser, United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 25th Infantry Division, in action against the Japanese forces at Putlan, Luzon, Philippine Islands, on 13 April 1945. When demolition charges hurled by a Japanese infiltration squad instantly killed the battery executive and injured four other men including himself, Corporal Mouser courageously and with utter disregard for his own personal safety or wounds, rendered medical aid to the wounded members of his organization. Despite demolition charges exploding in the area, he continued his efforts until he lost consciousness.
His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
