Leon Robinson
Staff Sergeant, U. S. Army
Silver Star
GENERAL ORDERS:
Headquarters, 63d Infantry Division, General Orders No. 42 (March 14, 1945)
CITATION:
The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Staff Sergeant Leon Robinson (ASN: 38672305), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company M, 3d Battalion, 254th Infantry Regiment, 63d Infantry Division, in action on 23 January 1945, in the vicinity of Benwihr, France.
During the attack on Hill 216, heavy casualties were sustained from schu-mines. Being fully aware of the existing dangers, and with utter disregard for his own life and safety, Sergeant Robinson volunteered to assist in evacuating casualties from the mine field. He repeatedly made trips into the field, aiding in the removal of four wounded soldiers.
Sergeant Robinson's courage reflects great credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of the United States.
