CITATION:
The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Captain (Infantry), [then First Lieutenant] Frank E. Reves (ASN: 0-1318701), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 319th Infantry Regiment, 80th Infantry Division, in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States on 12 and 13 February 1945 in Luxembourg and Germany. Leading his company in a night assault into the Seigfried Line, Captain Reves so inspired his men by his courage that they moved through devastating artillery fire to reach their objective and drive off several enemy counterattacks. Personally directing the operations with the advance squads he was responsible for the successful deployment against and neutralization of many enemy strong points. Captain Reves' courage and aggressive leadership were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit and the United States Army.
