CITATION:
(Citation Needed) - SYNOPSIS: Staff Sergeant Clarence Eldridge King (ASN: 6240019), United States Army Air Forces, was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving with the 345th Bombardment Squadron (Heavy), 98th Bombardment Group (Heavy), NINTH Air Force, in action against enemy forces in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations in 1942.
Staff Sergeant King's gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army Air Forces.
