Daniel A. Perrin
Corporal, U. S. Marine Corps
Silver Star
GENERAL ORDERS:
CITATION:
The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Corporal Daniel A. Perrin (MCSN: 475992), United States Marine Corps, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against numerically superior enemy Japanese forces near Koi-ari, Bougainville, Solomon Islands on 29 November 1943. When six members of his squad were wounded by enemy mortar shell fragments, Corporal Perrin unhesitatingly made his way through continued heavy mortar fire and succeeded in removing his injured comrades to the battalion aid station personally administering first aid to the cases in need of immediate attention. His splendid initiative and unselfish devotion to duty maintained in the face of grave peril contributed materially to saving the lives of these men and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
