Ted Junior Barrow
Corporal, U. S. Marine Corps
Silver Star
GENERAL ORDERS:
Commanding General, Fleet Marine Force Pacific: Serial 79496 (September 29, 1945
Corporal Barrow assumed command of several squads of his company that had lost contact with the command post during a fierce assault on the enemy. Exposing himself to extremely heavy enemy machine gun, rifle and mortar fire in order to organize the squads into a platoon, he then gallantly led his men in a strong counterattack, destroying many of the enemy and succeeded in making contact with his command post with a minimum number of casualties.
Except for his daring aggressiveness and heroic action in the face of grave peril, this group of men would have faced the possibility of complete annihilation. His outstanding initiative, indomitable fighting spirit and unswerving devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
