CITATION:
The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Staff Sergeant Francis S. Cameron (ASN: 38066472), United States Army, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving with Battery **, *** Armored Field Artillery Battalion, in action near *****, Tunisia, on ** March 1943.
Staff Sergeant Cameron crossed open terrain under enemy artillery fire to extinguish a fire in his vehicle. This action not only saved the vehicle but also aided in concealing the position of his unit. Staff Sergeant Cameron's gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
