CITATION:
The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant James W. Crumpley (ASN: 38432218), United States Army, for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving with Company B, 50th Armored Infantry Battalion, 36th Armored Infantry Regiment, 3d Armored Division, in action on 31 March 1945, in Germany.
Sergeant Crumpley's outstanding gallantry and devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflects great credit upon himself, the 3d Armored Division, and the United States Army.
