John R. Richmond
Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Army

On a non-specified date during World War II, then-First Lieutenant John R. Richmond was serving with the 503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment, U.S. Army and 1LT Richmond’s unit was in action against Japanese forces. 1LT Richmond’s courageous actions and extraordinary heroism on that date earned him the U.S. Army's third highest award for valor, the Silver Star.

He was killed in a plane crash on Ft Benning, Georgia on 10 Aug 1953.
