Hersel R. Adams On 9 September 1943, Captain Hersel R. Adams was serving with the 141st Infantry Regiment, 36th Infantry Division, in the European Theater of Operations. On that day, CPT Adams was Killed in Action. His courageous actions that day earned him the U.S. Army's second highest award for valor, the Distinguished Service Cross.
