Timothy Michael Conneway was born on 22 February 1981 at Fort Lewis, WA, the son of James Kenneth and Sally Ann Conneway. Tim was a Junior ROTC star in high school and followed his grandfather, father, and brother into military service. He had a great personality and an ability to deal with others. He was always energetic and wanting to do things. Tim was a guy with a military image and, at a young age, fit all the credentials of a soldier.

Conneway enlisted in the U.S. Army on 15 June 1999. He completed Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training in the Military Operational Specialty (MOS) of Infantryman at Fort Benning, GA. He continued his military training at Fort Benning when he attended Airborne School and then the Ranger Indoctrination Program. On 27 January 2000, he was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. He earned his Ranger Tab after graduating from the U.S. Army Ranger Course. He also completed the Primary Leadership Development Course. Conneway was a rifleman, grenadier, machine gunner and team leader with Company B, 3rd Battalion.

Sgt. Conneway was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, GA, when the unit was deployed to Iraq. On 26 June 2003, Conneway was traveling in a government vehicle when a vehicle packed with explosives on the side of a Baghdad road detonated. He died from cardiac arrest two days later as he was being loaded onto a plane for transport to a hospital in Germany.

Death and Burial

Sergeant Timothy Michael Conneway died on 28 June 2003, of wounds received in action on 26 June 2003. He is buried at Meadowlawn Cemetery in Enterprise, AL.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine Fay Conneway, of Columbus, GA, who was pregnant at the time of his death; his parents, James Kenneth and Sally Ann Conneway of Enterprise, AL, and one brother.
