Alexander Chisholm was born on 12 March 1941.

On 10 September 1967, Sergeant Alexander Chisholm was serving with I Company, 3rd Battalion, 26th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Amphibious Force, in Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, Sergeant Chisholm was killed in action when he sustained wounds from artillery, rocket or mortar fire. His body was recovered.
