Lon Gale Carr was born on 24 January 1942.

On 25 July 1968, Private First Class Lon Gale Carr was serving with A Battery, 3rd Battalion, 16th Artillery Regiment, Americal Division, in Quang Tin Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, PFC Carr was killed in action when he sustained wounds from and explosive device. His body was recovered.
