Francis Edward Camden, Jr. Equipment Operator Petty Officer Third Class, U.S. Navy Francis Edward Camden, Jr. was born on 1 March 1947. On 20 January 1967, Equipment Operator Third Class Francis Edward Camden, Jr. was serving with NMCB-62, 3rd NC BDE, USNAVFORV, in Thua Thien Province, South Vietnam. On that day, at approximately 0145, NMCB-62 at Camp Campbell received six rounds of 82mm mortar fire. This was a portion of the total of 59 rounds taken within the Phu Bai Combat Base. One hut in the Alpha Company berthing area and one in the Delta Company area sustained direct hits. Casualties sustained as a result of the attack were two KIA, EO3 Francis E. Camden, Wheaton, MD and BUCN Murlin Boon, Watonga, OK and seventeen WIA. PO3 Camden was killed in action when he sustained multiple fragmentation wounds. His body was recovered. Medals Purple Heart Honors The name Francis E Camden Jr is located on Panel 14E Line 55 of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall.
