On 5 April 1968, Corporal Andrew Zbigniew Bucior was serving with C Company, 1st Battalion, 9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Amphibious Force, in Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, Corporal Bucior was killed in action due to wounds sustained from an explosive device. His body was recovered.
