On 10 May 1969, Private First Class Robert Earl Bowman was serving as an infantryman in the 1st Infantry Division in Binh Duong Province in South Vietnam.
On that day, PFC Bowman was killed in action when he sustained wounds from small arms fire. His body was recovered. He received a posthumous promotion to Corporal.
