Jerry Don Basden was born on 18 August 1945 in Dumas, TX.

On 5 November 1965, Specialist Four Jerry Don Basden was serving as a parachute rigger with 98th Quartermaster Battalion, U.S. Support Command, Qui Nhon, South Vietnam.

On that day, SP4 Basden died of Other Causes in a non-hostile action. His body was recovered.
