Robert Lee Ball was born on 29 November 1949 in Trenton, NJ.

On 18 June 1968, Private First Class Robert Lee Ball was serving as a rifleman with K Company, 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines, 3rd Marine Division in Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam. On that day, PFC Ball was killed in action by an explosive device.
