James Franklin Akins
Sergeant, U.S. Marine Corps

On 19 May 1967, Sergeant James Franklin Akins was serving with I Company, 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, in Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, Sgt Akins was killed in action when he sustained wounds from artillery, rocket or mortar fire. His body was recovered.
