Gerard Emil Zinser Gerard Emil Zinser was born on 31 May 1918 in Illinois. Zinser served during World War II aboard "PT-109" under the command of Lieutenant and future U.S. President, John F. Kennedy. A motor machinist, he received severe burns on both arms when the boat was sunk by Japanese destroyer in August 1943. He also served in Korea and Vietnam. Zinser was the last surviving member of the "PT-109" crew. Death and Burial Gerard Emil Zinser died on 21 August 2001. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. |
