James Monroe Burroughs Lieutenant Colonel, U. S. Army Silver Star Posthumously awarded the Silver Star citation by the War Dept. 15 Aug 1924, for gallantry in action in the pursuit of superior forces of the enemy under the Insurgent General Tinio, in Northern Luzon, P.I., Dec. 4-18, 1899, through a most dangerous and difficult country, thru hardships and exposure, thereby forcing the enemy to liberate twenty-two American prisoners held by him Dec 18, 1899. Appointed 1Lt. and Adjt 1st Texas Cavalry 15 May 1898. Hon. discharged as Lt. Colonel 14 Oct 1919. |
