CITATION:
The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to First Lieutenant (Infantry) Charles L. Barrow, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with 120th Machine-Gun Battalion, 42d Division, A.E.F., northeast of Chateau-Thierry, France, 30 & 31 July 1918.
Acting as leader of a platoon, First Lieutenant Barrow stimulated his men by his heroic conduct to success until incapacitated by a second wound.
