CITATION:
The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) to Private First Class Thomas L. Hensley (ASN: 2339279), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company H, 4th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, A.E.F., near Roncheres, France, 29 July 1918.
Going from one wounded comrade to another, exposed to heavy machine-gun and deadly sniper fire, Private Hensley administered aid to all that he could reach before being killed in the performance of this heroic mission.
