CITATION:
The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private Frank Marlin (ASN: 54038), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company G, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division, A.E.F., near Soissons, France, 19 July 1918.
With two other soldiers Private Marlin rushed a machine-gun position, killed the crew, and captured the gun in order to make the advance of his platoon possible.

On 16 May 1919 awarded the French Croix de Guerre with gilt star
