CITATION:
The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) to Private Andy McCall (ASN: 1403221), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Machine-Gun Company, 370th Infantry Regiment, 93d Division, A.E.F., near Ferme de la Riviere, France, 30 September 1918.
Although relieved on the previous night, Private McCall willingly agreed to substitute for a sick comrade, returning the following day to his dangerous post as advance machine-gunner. During a heavy shelling of his position Private McCall was killed.
