Robert W. Komer Robert W. Komer was born on 23 February 1922 in Chicago, IL. Komer grew up in St. Louis and graduated from Harvard University, where he also received a Master's Degree in Business Administration. During World War II, he served as a First Lieutenant in Army Intelligence in Europe and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. As a U.S. Foreign Service Officer he was one of the principal American officials sent to Saigon in the 1960s to try to make a success of the nation's commitment to the war in Vietnam. Death and Burial Robert W. Komer died on 9 April 2000. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. |
