William Edward Ferrall Rear Admiral, U.S. Navy William Edward Ferrall was born in 1906. In World War II, Ferrall was the Commanding Officer of the Submarine USS Seadragon from 10 December 1941 to 1 February 1943. During Farrell's 12 war patrols, he sank or damaged 14 Japanese vessels. In 1959, Ferrall, then the Commander, Submarine Force U.S. Pacific Fleet, Pearl Harbor, was granted permission to conduct a drive for voluntary contributions to construct what would become the Pearl Harbor Submarine Memorial. By January of 1960 the fund-raising goal was achieved and construction on the memorial began. His last assignment was as Commandant of the 13th Naval District at Puget Sound Navy Yard in Bremerton, WA. Death and Burial Rear Admiral William Edward Ferrall died in 1994. He is buried at the U.S. Naval Academy Cemetery in Annapolis, MD. |
