Lee Z. Stempowicz Lee Z. Stempowicz was born on 20 December 1923 in New Haven, CT. He was the son of Klemens and Frances (Paranka) Wakula Stempowicz. He was predeceased by his only sibling, a sister named Mary who died at birth. He was married to Doris Lillian Jacquelin. Military Service Lee was a WWII veteran who served in the U. S. Navy. He was an aircraft mechanic aboard a Five Star ship; the Carrier USS Bataan, where he saw heavy action in the Pacific Asiatic Theatre. He received an Honorable discharge at the end of the war. Lee never forgot his experiences during his service to our country during WWII, nor did he ever forget the friends he lost in battle. He remained a fervent patriot all his life. A military service was provided at his funeral. He resided in Hamden, CT for many years until his retirement from US Repeating Arms in New Haven, CT. He and Doris then moved to SC. Lee Z. Stempowicz died on 3 April 1999 due to lung cancer. He is buried at Saint Lawrence Cemetery in West Haven, New Haven County, CT. |
