Gary T. Rovinski was born on 19 October 1961 in Wilkes-Barre, PA. He was the son of Joseph S. and Carmella Saracino Rovinski. He was a graduate of Bishop Hoban High School, College Misericordia, and Miami University of Ohio, where he earned his Master's degree.

Military Service

On 5 June 2006, Gary was serving as a Navy Equipment Operator 1st Class assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 25, Fort McCoy, WI, deployed in Iraq. Gary was killed that day as a result of enemy action when his Humvee was struck by an improvised explosive device in Anah, Iraq. Also killed was Navy Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Jaime S. Jaenke.

Death and Burial

Equipment Operator 1st Class Gary T. Rovinski was killed in action on 5 June 2006. He is buried at Roseville Cemetery in Roseville, IL.

He was preceded in death by his father, the late Joseph S. Rovinski, and by his brother, Michael. Surviving are his wife, Jenifer; daughters Cecilia and Michaela; his mother, Carmella Saracino Rovinski, Mountain Top; sister and brother-in-law, Paulette and Dave Bellamori, Woolrich Township, N.J.; sister Mary Catherine Costigan, Mountain Top; brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Andrea, Mountain Top; brother, Anthony, Wilkes-Barre; and brother Thomas, Las Vegas.
