James L. Harris was born on 20 March 1932 in Carbondale, IL, to Francis and Mary Treece Harris.

Military Service

On 26 December 1950, Jim enlisted in the U. S. Army and completed basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. He was then assigned to combat duty in Korea. After serving in Korea, Jim was assigned to Camp Haven, WI.

Post-Military Life

Jim married Marion A. Schils in Westfield, IN on 24 July 1954. Shortly thereafter, he began working for the Kohler Company, Kohler, WI, in the Power House. Jim retired from Kohler as a supervisor after 50 years, working the entire time at the Power House.

Jim loved to work around the house and on old cars (there was always a project in the works) and spend time with his family.

Death and Burial

James L. Harris died of cancer on 8 January 2005. He is buried at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Kohler, Sheboygan County, WI.

Survivors include his wife, Marion, of Plymouth, WI; four sons and two daughters, Gary (Ann) Harris of Howards Grove, WI; Dennis Harris of Des Plaines, IL; Jane (Mike) Kregel of Sheboygan, WI; Randy (Kris) Harris of Howards Grove, WI; Thomas (Gail) Harris of Plymouth, WI; and Colleen (Rick) Meyer of Plymouth, WI; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
