Clarence David "Bill" Everhart
U. S. Army
World War II

Clarence David Everhart was born on 17 January 1912 in Ladoga, IN. He was the oldest child, and only son, of Elmer Thomas and Ila Minnie Phillips Everhart. He had three sisters, Anna Frances, Irene and Jessie.

As a child, he was given the nickname "Bill" by his grandfather, who felt that Clarence was a terrible name for a little boy. No one knows why he didn't simply call him by his middle name, David. Whatever the reason, the nickname stuck and he was thereafter known as Bill.

Clarence and Florence LaVera Smith were married on 31 December 1940. Their only child, a daughter, was born in September 1942.

Military Service

Clarence Everhart served in the U. S. Army during World War II and was stationed in the Philippines for most of that time.
