Trace William Dossett was born on 22 April 1967 in Keosauqua, Van Buren County, IA. He was a longtime resident of Wapello, IA, and graduated from Wapello High School in 1985. He later moved to Orlando, FL.

Military Service

On 2 May 2004, Petty Officer 2nd Class Dossett was assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 14, Alpha Company, of Jacksonville, FL, deployed in Iraq. He was killed along with four other SeaBees in a mortar attack that day in Ramadi, Iraq. Before enlisting in the Naval Reserve, he served from 1986 to 1992 as a Navy communications specialist and diver.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Trace William Dossett was killed in action on 2 May 2004. His body was cremated and his ashes are located at Wapello Cemetery in Wapello, Louisa County, IA.
