Beatrice V. Ball Beatrice V. Ball was born on 2 December 1902. Ball was a senior officer in SPARS, the U.S. Coast Guard Women's Reserve created during World War II on 23 November 1942, with the signing of Public Law 773 by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. The name is a contraction of the Coast Guard motto Semper Paratus and its English translation Always Ready. The U.S. Coast Guard functioned under the command of the U.S. Navy during World War II. Death and Burial Commander Beatrice V. Ball died on 21 October 1963. She is buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. |
