Fred Jurgen Schnepel Commander Fred Jurgen Schnepel (24 February 1892 - 2 February 1948) was a U.S. Navy sailor who received the U.S. military's highest award for valor, the Medal of Honor, for his heroic actions during the Occupation of Veracruz. Fred Jurgen Schnepel was born on 24 February 1892 in New York City, NY. Medal of Honor Rank and organization: Ordinary Seaman, U.S. Navy Citation: On board the U.S.S. Florida, Schnepel showed extraordinary heroism in the line of his profession during the seizure of Vera Cruz, Mexico, 21 and 22 April 1914. Death and Burial Commander Fred Jurgen Schnepel died on 2 February 1948. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA, in Section 11, Lot 825, Map Grid O/P 15. |
